It's the me!

Hello, and welcome to my website!

My name is Lewis. Sometimes people call me Pikalew depending on where they know me from. I am a lot of things. I'm a producer, photographer, community manager, social media manager, live-streamer, videographer, writer, podcaster, gamer, skateboarder, car enthusiast, comic book reader and amateur electronic musician.

The most important thing to me, and my favourite thing to do, is to connect with people, build communities and create unique and exciting content for everyone. With every photo I take, article I write, video or live stream I produce, I am always thinking about a story I want to tell and the people I want to tell it to.

It all started when I was running an online skate shop. I would write reviews of skate products and put them on my Tumblr, which started to garner thousands of views. I eventually started doing the same for cars. I would buy and sell cars, just to review them. After about 14 cars, I started creating content for various automotive websites, including Zen Garage, Mighty Car Mods' Magazine and even Top Gear Australia's website. I eventually started reviewing video games and ended up landing an internship in print media writing for PC Powerplay, Hyper and PC & Tech Authority's magazines - a dream come true as I had always wanted to see my name in print.

After a while, I started to become dissatisfied with the lack of personal engagement from writing for a print magazine, so I started making YouTube videos. Eventually companies like Rode Microphones, Logitech, Sony and Xbox started sending me products to unbox and review. As well being flown interstate to cover events, I also started doing video reviews of games. YouTube is such a great platform for reaching audiences, and I am so grateful for the launchpad that YouTube has been for my career. After a little while on YouTube I started to hear about live streaming - which kicked off my live streaming days on Twitch. I love streaming. It's instant and such a great way to connect with people. I spent most of 2016/2017 working as a host, technical producer and social media/community manager for a company who handled all the pre-roll advertising for Twitch in Australia, as well as custom ad campaigns for games, movies, tech products and many more brands. Through this job, I found out what I wanted to do. I want to grow and manage communities. I want to work in advertising coming up with creative ideas to showcase products. I want to produce and curate content for social media. I want to create meaningful content with my own unique style, which is part of what I'll be doing on this site.

As of June 2018 I am one of only a handful of Australian Mixer Partners on my personal channel. Mixer is Microsoft's own live streaming service with focus on community and technology (Faster Than Light chat is amazing!) and I am proud to have partnered with Mixer. I also started MixerANZ and act as community manager for the Twitter and Stream Team. I have huge plans for my channel and I can't wait to share them all! I have also co-founded Pixel Party, a uniquely community focused brand/Mixer channel which will play host to events, merchandise and more. In August 2017 I was the technical producer for an online reality/e-sports show called The Next Gamer. As of November 2018 I am now a proud EA Game Changer!

In mid 2018 I started working as a social media manager and photographer for GfinityAU at their dedicated live esports studio in Sydney. As of early 2019 I am planning to launch a photography business as well as focus more on music production.

So that's a little bit about me. The take away from all this is that I like a lot of things, I do a lot of things and I love learning about things. I am always looking for people to collaborate with be it photography, video production, streaming, podcasting, design or whatever!
